Register for the Dearborn Parks & Recreation Department's Lifeguarding Class, which will be offered at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. This course is FREE for attendees who apply for a lifeguard position with the City of Dearborn and are hired, pending their successful completion of the course. Failure to pass will result in a fee charged to the attendee. Register at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center service desk weedays from 8AM-6PM.

Participants must be able to
. . . . . swim 500 yards continuously (200 yards crawl, 100 yards breaststroke and 200 yards crawl or breaststroke).
. . . . . swim 20 yards using crawl or breaststroke, submerge 7-10 feet and retrieve a 20-pound brick and swim 20 yards back.
. . . . . tread water with both hands above the water for two minutes.
Students successfully completing the course will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate and an American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate.
