Are you interested in working as a lifeguard? If so, register for the Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department's Lifeguarding Class, which will be offered this winter and next spring at the The Center. The class, open to swimmers aged 15 and over, offers three, four-week sessions.

Two sessions meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. and one meets Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

October 9-November 8
January 13-February 10 (Saturdays)
April 9-May 9

Participants must be able to......
......swim 500 yards continuously (200 yards crawl, 100 yards breaststroke and 200 yards crawl or breaststroke)
......swim 20 yards using crawl or breaststroke, submerge 7-10 feet and retrieve a 20-pound brick and swim 20 yards back.

Students successfully completing the course will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate and an American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate.

Cost: $100, passholders; $100, residents; $130, non-residents. 

The purchase of a required Red Cross textbook is included in the cost. Register at the Service Desk at The Center.
